On Wednesday 25 December 2019, EU Debate Student Club was held in Room 403 of Academia Hall for Social Sciences at Rokkodai campus of Kobe University.
Firstly, a Japanese student made a presentation on building structure and city planning from a comparative viewpoint of architecture and history of urban development in Europe and Japan. Five participants then talked about what made such difference as utility poles which disturb beautiful scenery in urban areas in Japan. They explored the reason behind and wondered why Europe could do and Japan could not. In addition, they looked at difference in colour. Japanese buildings tend to be monotonous while there is diversity in Europe. They reflected on travel experience in Europe where they saw yellow and orange in southern Europe which made remarkable contrast to blue and green in northern Europe.
