EU Debate Club " a cup of coffee to explore Europe in depth " was held on 20 May.
2On Friday 20 May, EU Debate Student Club was held with EUIJ Kansai via Zoom teleconference system to have lively conversation on
"a cup of coffee to explore Europe in depth".
Firstly, a Turkish professor explained that the original coffee was in Ethiopia where someone found coffee beans roasted with fragrance by forest fire and tried to drink
and got energized by caffeine. It became popular among Muslims in the Middle East and the export to Europe was monopolized by Ottoman Empire. Coffee beans and instruments
were abandoned by the Ottoman army when they were defeated in the Siege of Vienna in the 17th century, and Europeans got them to develop further. Students were then invited
into small breakout rooms on Zoom to talk about European colonization where coffee was brought in tropical plantations and explore cultural diversity in making coffee and
daily scenes in European countries. It was an excellent chance to know Europe's tasty relationship with coffee in the world.
