EU Debate Club "United in diversity? Different national characteristics in Europe" was held on 29 July.
On Wednesday 29 July, EU Debate Student Club was held with EUIJ Kansai via Zoom teleconference system to have lively conversation on "United in diversity?
Different national characteristics in Europe".
Firstly, a student who came back form study exchange with a French partner university reflected on her life in the country with some pictures shared on Zoom,
and spoke about several occasions when she met many European students and thought about the reality of national characteristics in Europe. She referred to a few postcards
sold in souvenir shops in Brussels which illustrated various images of national characteristics in a comical way and tried to discuss how such images represented their
reality, for example, of the self-assertiveness of French and the seriousness of Germans. Students were then invited into small breakout rooms on Zoom to talk with an
Italian professor about other national characteristics such as Italian and Dutch based on personal experience. It was an excellent opportunity to know difference in national
characteristics yet united in diversity in Europe.
