EU Debate Club "Neo-Latin Languages: Can French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian people understand each other?" was held on 25 November.

On 25 November 2020, Professor Porto Massimiliano and 6 participants joined the EU Debate Club to discuss about similarities among Neo-Latin languages such as French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, and Spanish.

The meeting was held through ZOOM from 12:20 to 13:10 and was structured as follows:
・Introduction of the three main language families in Europe: Romance (Neo-Latin), Germanic, and
Slavic.
・Overview and classification of the official languages of the European Union
・Analysis of the Neo-Latin languages

The Neo-Latin languages have been compared for the following categories:
・Numbers
・Colors
・Animals
・Pronouns
・Countries
・Institutions

Participants were asked to express their opinions about similarities of the words for each category. The presentation was concluded with a short introduction on the similarities between the French and Italian grammar.
