The Olympic Games are the main sport event that is held every four years. Invented by Ancient Greeks, the Olympic Games were held in Greece from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD. In 1896, on the initiative of Pierre de Coubertin the Modern Olympic Games were held again in Athens, Greece. Since then, the Olympic Games alternates every four years in different countries. The Tokyo 2020 edition of the Games represents the second Olympic Games held in Tokyo, Japan since the first ones were held in 1964. Due to the pandemic, the Games were postponed for one year in Summer 2021.

　During the EU Debate club, we had a nice chat about the importance of sport. Students shared their favorite sports, their experiences at the club activities and their impressions on the performances of the athletes at the Games. A final discussion on whether it was the right choice to hold the Olympics during the pandemic concluded the club activities.
