On 13 December 2017, EU Debate Club was held in Common Room (606) of Frontier Building at Rokkodai campus of Kobe University.
　 5 participants first checked the map of the Schengen Area and border controls which have been temporarily introduced since 2015-16. The debate focused on the reasons behind the temporary controls and the implications of these controls. Participants also discussed the concept of free movement in the EU and different attitudes to immigration among EU Member States.
　Debate participants seemed to agree that Schengen has been very important in European integration and that there will be very high economic costs if temporary border controls become semi-permanent.
