Program

Be a global leader discovering and solving problems!
Kobe University aims to nurture talents who voluntarily meet global challenges and exert leadership in solving them (“global leader with the ability to discover and solve problems”) and starts Kobe Global Challenge Program in line with the adoption of a quarter system.

Kobe Global Challenge Program
Through this program, students visits global fields to learn outside campus, during one quarter or a vacation period of grade 1 or 2, which we call “Challenge term”. The program allows students to directly feel what abilities make it possible to discover and solve problems, which are necessary for the global leader, and realize the necessity of such abilities through joining international activities. This will open an opportunity for students to promote further understanding in their academic studies, and take better advantage of international opportunities such as studying abroad during their third and fourth grade.

In 2016, eight faculties are offering 14 courses in Asia, the US and the EU. Students can obtain credits of a liberal arts course, “Global Challenge practice” based on the results of those various programs.

Join the Program utilizing the quarter system!
The quarter system divides a half-year semester into two and provides classes per quarter, four eight -week periods in a year, while maintaining the two-semester system for student registration and tuition.
Advantages of the quarter system
・Easy to study abroad
It has been difficult to gain credits when students start studying abroad in the middle of a semester. The quarter system enables students to participate in short-term study programs abroad while being registered at Kobe University and still graduating in four years.
・Various extramural activities
Students can participate in volunteer work or internships during a long vacation in a gap term.
・Concentrated learning
Courses holding a class per week/two classes per week for eight weeks allow students to study in a concentrated, shorter period.

How to utilize the quarter system
In the quarter system, students can take a “gap term,” a period combining a quarter and a consecutive long vacation, to gain extensive experiences through a wider range of extramural activities including international programs.
Kobe Global Challenge Program supports you venturing into the world!
Kobe Global Challenge Program offers a variety of extramural activity courses including learning before and after practice in global fields.
The program coordinators can also provide support for planning activities abroad according to wishes of students: which country to go and what to do. The results of those activities abroad will be granted as credits of the liberal education course, “Global Challenge Practice.”
