Eighteen KUPES students, including the first year students who will start the KUPES programme this April, participated in the EU Study Camp that was held at Rokko Hoyoso, located in Nishinomiya, Hyogo, over two days from 13th to 14th of February. Lectures were offered by professors of the Kobe University. The students acquired basic knowledge of the EU and learned current issues that the EU has been facing. In the evening of the first day, there was an unexpected fun activity and the participants were having fun learning about the EU in English. In the afternoon of the second day, the students reviewed what they have learned within the two days and prepared for the courses to take from the next academic year, starting in April.

Positive feedback was heard from the students, such as: “I will be able to learn positively with the KUPES members although I was not able to understand everything taught in the Camp”, ”It was good to be able to learn a lot about the EU and it became clear what we are going to learn in the KUPES programme”, and “I felt my listening skills improved obviously compared to the state prior to the Camp” Thus, the Camp enhanced students’ motivation to learn as a KUPES student from the new academic year.
