Academic English Intensive Course Summer 2021 was held (9-17 Sep)

Academic English Intensive Course Summer 2021 was held from 9th to 17th of September online due to the situation caused by Covid-19 mutant. 31 students participated in the programme, as the programme was designed for the KUPES students and other Kobe university students who were planning to study abroad as exchange students. All instructors were experts of teaching English to Japanese students.

The academic classes focused on improving students’ abilities in the four core competences in reading, listening, speaking and writing, while strengthening their soft skills including critical thinking and presentation skills. The participants also learned IELTS test taking skills and basic knowledge of writing essays, which were not included in a regular curriculum of Kobe University. The students improved their English proficiency as well as reviewed their knowledge on the EU. The participants gave satisfactorily comments; “This course was good opportunity to immerse myself in an English-spoken environment.”, “I had many opportunities to express my opinion in English, so I could enhance my speaking skill which I was not good at.I had lost my motivation to study English and go abroad as the university classes were entirely made on-line in the first semester. However, this summer course greatly motivated me to study English. ”
