Kobe University, working in a spirit of integrity, freedom and cooperation, is committed to achieving a Global Hub Campus fostering individuals with rich understanding and strong leadership skills. In addition, taking advantage of its unique open and cosmopolitan culture and environs of Kobe, our educational goals are to educate a whole person and promote originality, expertise, and international awareness. Especially with the education of international awareness, we have been to foster human resources with understanding and respect for diversity, cross-cultures along with high communication skills. It can be said that we are looking ahead of time by setting the educational goals required to global talented person.

Under the “Project for Promotion of Global Human Resource Development”, adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in 2012, we aim to foster “global human resources that can exert a problem-discovery type of leadership,”which means to foster global human resources who can discover potential problems in the real world ahead of the society and transmit them to the world.

Generally speaking, global human resources are required high foreign language and communication skills, deep insights about foreign and Japanese cultures, and the spirit of challenge. However, that is not enough. In order to become one of the global human resources who can exert a “problem-discovery type of leadership” in various fields of the global society, it is indispensable to have profound education and the high degree of expertise in the respected field.

Thus at Kobe University, we offer a series of “Global Specialized Courses” that are conducted in English and other foreign languages, as part of the specialized courses at all six faculties including humanity and social science faculties that are involved in this project. Moreover, students can cultivate a higher degree of expertise applicable to the world, by taking “Global Specialized Courses” at the faculty they belong to but also at other faculties as well.

Of all national and public universities in the Kinki region, Kobe University is the only one selected as part of the Project for Promotion of Global Human Resource Development led by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Please take on every intellectual challenge you can at this university located in the cosmopolitan city of Kobe that has an open-minded culture, and strive to become a problem-discovery type of global human resource that will be absolutely essential for the future of Japanese society.

Kobe University, widely expected in society to establish the role as the regional base hub of universities, will further promote our efforts to foster global human resources.
